Job Title: Assistant Manager - Evluation Department [Job Code: 240401]    CLICK TO APPLY


Lead/manage team members and projects during development of interior components for multiple OEM’s.  Provide materials engineering support to manufacturing 
facilities and new product development projects.  


Job Description:

•	Utilize team members and various resources to ensure the customers’ expectations are met or exceeded.
•	Support Engineering Manager to ensure successful RFQ and quotation of new business by defining product requirements based on customer SOR.
•	Create engineering budget for specific products (manpower, expenses, etc).
•	Utilize lessons learned and continuous improvement activities to ensure robust proposals.
•	Application of engineering practices/principles
	o	Use of computer aided design tools, application of problem solving techniques and adherence to procedures to enable quality completion of all project deliverables.
•	Support the design and development of automotive interior parts.
	o	Provide material expertise in the selection of materials during development
	o	Initiate and execute VA/VE improvements through material selection
	o	Evaluate materials based on requirements and performance specifications of the automotive interior parts.  
	o	Confer with producers of materials such as metals and polymers during investigation and evaluation of materials.
	o	Review product failure data to rule out or establish material and process causes.
•	Support Purchasing Activities
	o	Evaluate materials and parts for cost reduction
	o	Assist suppliers in understanding technical specifications
	o	Help decide NA equivalents for Japanese materials
•	Interface with customers 
	o	Support customers for all material approvals and issues.


Minimum Requirements:

•	5+ years’ of relevant Engineering experience and 3+ years’ experience as Supervisor or Manager
•	Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science or related field required
•	Ability to perform data analysis, best practices and hand calculations accurately
•	Strong presentation skills
•	Able to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
•	Must be able to multi task, handle diversity, and provide leadership through problem resolution. 
•	Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong leadership ability are required.
•	Understanding of basic engineering calculations, cost analysis, and an understanding of basic accounting.
•	Must have strong organizational, planning, and people skills.  
•	Active listener with effective communication skills.
•	Ability to work in a team environment to support demanding automotive customer requirements.
•	Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.
•	Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports and graphs.
•	Effective time management skills.
•	Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
•	Proven ability to react and respond appropriately during customer and technical presentations.
•	Language Skills:
	o	Exceptional communication skills ( written and verbal) in English required
	o	Japanese, German, Portuguese, and/or Spanish preferred.
•	Computer/Software:
	o	Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Job Description:

  • Provide engineering and design support for Automotive Interiors and Exteriors including Seating Systems, Interiors and Lighting products.
  • Perform product design and related studies on CAD to support program milestones. Ensure the integrity of the design by evaluating design standards and guidelines.
  • Perform Engineering calculations, analysis, tolerance studies, GD&T and feasibility studies as required for safety and performance of the product that meets all the regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Follow all standard engineering processes and tools required for product design like DFMEA, DFA, DFSS etc.
  • Perform data checks for all program release events and milestones. Review design with design team, customer and other engineering teams.
  • Estimate time to complete all program deliverables on time to support project timing.
  • Perform product engineering for Automotive systems and sub-systems. Perform product engineering in Automotive Seating Systems and components including foam, plastics, packaging studies and design layouts.
  • Perform product engineering in Automotive Interiors such as door trim, console and instrument panel.
  • Perform product engineering in Automotive Lighting such as head lamp, rear combination and positioning lamp.
  • Perform design using CAD Tools including Catia V5 and UGNX. Use Data Management Tools including Team Center/Enovia.

Minimum Requirements:

    Education: Bachelor - Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering (will accept foreign education equivalent)
    Experience: Five (5) Years

Work Location:

  • Various unanticipated work locations throughout the United States; relocation may be required.
  • Must be willing to relocate.
